Happy birthday, Nintendo Switch.

Let’s look back at the Wii-U; when I first watched the stream – I dislike it completely, the main problem for me was the single-touch, restive touch screen. That alone killed it from me on launch. Then not long after – we heard rumors about the NX, again, I was turned off, thinking it would just be another Wii U.

I watched the direct, and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered and got mine day 1, and it was well worth it. The first few months were slow with games, but it then became a console full of masterpiece games like; Zelda BOTW, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Bayonetta bundle, Super Mario Odyssey, MK8, etc.

It was the first console to rival Playstation in a very long time. Heck, it’s first party games scored higher than any other console before it – for example, when Horizon Zero Dawn released it was a top 3 of the year, BOTW in comparison was a top 3 of a decade.

After looking at the amazing first year from 1st party, and some 3rd party games, it was time to play indies in a whole new way. Playing indies portable is HUGE. There have also been some amazing indies for the switch like; Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Shovel Knight, etc. I own Stardew Valley on PC, PS4, and Switch, but have played at least ten times longer on the switch.

Here is to it’s next year, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Pokemon, etc are scheduled for the switch this year.

PS; I do plan to do a big article on Indies soon.
